Community Care Worker (Centre-Based) – Hobart

Who are we?

PRONIA, meaning “to provide”, is an established community services agency with a rich 50-year history servicing the needs of the culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including the Australian-Greek community. We advocate for the vulnerable and provide innovative services to meet current and emerging multicultural community needs including: aged care, NDIS, early education, and family & community programs.

What you will be doing

Working in a small team of two, the Community Care Worker (Centre-Based) position will work as part of our Planned Activity Group operating from the Greek Community Centre in Hobart.

Our day centres will provide programs for older Greek people who may have early signs of Dementia. The groups provide an opportunity to socialize and participate in planned recreational, physical and educational activities. You will be actively supporting our clients to make this happen.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Understanding of working with elderly from different cultural, linguistic and health backgrounds
  • Have a positive and professional attitude
  • Have strong English written and oral skills
  • Fluency in Greek language is strongly considered
  • The ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent, or willingness to enrol shortly after being employed
  • Current certificates in First Aid and CPR, or willingness to complete the course
  • Current driver license and access to own insured and registered vehicle.
  • Undergo national police record check
