16 Days of Activism

As part of our 16 Days of Activism campaign, PRONIA held a professional development training seminar in elder abuse on December 6, 2022.
What we know is that elder abuse impacts approximately 14% of elderly people in Australia, with this demographic at high risk of financial abuse, neglect, and physical abuse perpetrated by family members and/or trusted individuals.
Knowing how to recognise the signs of abuse when working with clients or the next steps to take to support your clients if disclosure occurs is pivotal.
The training session was attended by PRONIA staff and was hosted by Gary Ferguson of Seniors Rights Victoria. https://seniorsrights.org.au/reso…/professional-education/

PRONIA has had a long, proud history in advocating for social justice, equality of opportunity for individuals and communities, with the aim of helping to create a stronger, cohesive, and inclusive society for all Australians. It is within this spirit that PRONIA supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart and the “yes” vote in the upcoming referendum to constitutionally recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as the First Peoples of Australia and a Voice to parliament.
