    PRONIA’s counsellors can help you and your family build healthy relationships. Counsellors can primarily assess your personal situation and make appropriate referrals to relevant services if necessary. PRONIA does not provide mediation nor engages in court related cases.

    Financial hardship occurs for individuals and families for a variety of reasons such as sudden unemployment, poor financial planning, family separation, birth of children, gambling addictions amongst others and the impact can be devastating on both individuals and the family unit.

  • Can PRONIA help?

    To put your mind at ease – YES we provide financial assistance to help you through a difficult time. We can assist by helping you to get the support you need from qualified financial counsellors and/ or other support services.

  • Do the staff speak Greek?

    We have Greek speaking counsellors, community workers and case workers in our team and if you request this it can be arranged.

    If you and /or your family have moved to Victoria in recent years and require support to access services or information or support.

    Depending on your situation we can assist to put you in touch with our Migration Agent Service, advocate with the relevant organisations and departments on your behalf and help you to understand your options.

Legal Information

  • Does PRONIA offer legal services? If so, how does the Legal Service work?

    Yes, PRONIA offers legal information and a referral service with qualified and experienced volunteer legal practitioners in a number of fields such as property or family law. The legal appointments are for a duration of 30 minutes either on the phone or in-person. The legal practitioner provides an initial consultation free of charge and provides you with further options of where to obtain legal support should it be required.

  • Do I have to pay for the Legal Services?

    The legal assistance is free; you do not need to pay.

  • What types of issues can I get legal assistance for?

    The types of assistance can range from wills and powers of attorney, to family violence, neighbourhood disputes, understanding legal documents. Depending on the issue you need to discuss we will try to match a specialist legal representative to assist.

  • How do I book a legal appointment?

    Call our office and speak to our Case work section who will determine the most suitable legal representative for your issue and provide you with an appointment time.

  • I need to attend court. Can I get assistance?

    Depending on the issue and your needs, we can assist by either referring you to the Court Network 03 8306 6966 who provide experienced and trained volunteers to support people going through court or explore other options to suit your situation.

Workshops, Groups & Seminars

  • What type of workshops and seminars do you offer?

    We offer regular workshops and seminars both in person and online, for the general community or professionals. The Workshops cover a wide range of topics, including health and wellbeing, employment, family conflict, elder abuse and family violence. Sessions are presented in either Greek or English and are open to the general public. Some sessions may attract a small fee.

  • What type of professional workshops do you facilitate?

    One of our most popular professional workshops has been the Culturally and Linguistic Diverse (CALD) LGBTIQ+ Inclusive Practice workshop, which is aimed at professionals to identify and address the mental health impacts of discrimination and homophobia for CALD LGBTIQ+ individuals and their families.
    We also offer training in Greek culture aimed to assist organisations to offer quality and culturally relevant services to clients from a Greek background.

  • Do you have any recreation and support groups?

    Yes we do have a number of groups. We hold groups in Brunswick and Oakleigh areas for those wishing to connect with others and we also facilitate groups via the phone for those who may not be able to get to a set location but still yearn to have a connection with others.

  • Do you facilitate any classes?

    Depending on the demand we facilitate English language classes and digital classes to learn how to use Lap tops and computers. The Digital Literacy classes are for beginners.
    The English language classes are for those who have limited or a basic understanding of English language and wish to improve their skills.

  • Do you offer any health related groups?

    Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Group has been running since 2004 and it continues to be the only Non-English speaking Cardio Rehabilitation Group in Victoria. It is supported by the Royal Melbourne Hospital and facilitated by experienced rehabilitation experts.
