Who are we?

PRONIA, meaning “to provide”, is an established community services agency with a rich 50-year history servicing the needs of the culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including the Australian-Greek community. We advocate for the vulnerable and provide innovative services to meet current and emerging multicultural community needs including: aged care, NDIS, early education, and family & community programs.

What you will be doing

We are looking for a Day Centre Cook/Community Care Worker. Your primary role will be as a Day Centre Cook within a small team, responsible for preparing and cooking food for our clients who attend our planned activity groups (PAG) in Brunswick (3 days) and Sunshine (1 day), with a focus on Greek cuisine. Additionally, you assist and support our clients during their time in the planned activity groups.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated cooking experience with a strong understanding of Greek cuisine
  • Demonstrated ability to work with elderly from different cultural, linguistic, health and disability backgrounds
  • Well-developed English written and oral skills
  • Bilingual or Greek speaking – desirable
  • Ability to work well in a team environment

Other requirements:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent, or willingness to undertake the course within 3 months of employment
  • Current certificates in First Aid and CPR, or willingness to complete the course
  • Current driver license and access to own insured and registered vehicle
  • Safety check on vehicles yearly, meeting safety checklist requirements
  • Undergo national police record check

  • Part time (5 hours per day, Monday to Thursday), Fixed-term until 30/06/2026 at our Brunswick and Sunshine PAG centres
